Harlem Division Equivalent
Harlem Division Equivalent
Screenprint, Printed by the artist in 1979. "Harlem Division Equivalent" 1979, Limited Edition of 200 Signed, Dated and Numbered
A zig zag pattern of light and shadow emblazoned on the smooth concrete of the station wall translates the steel structure above into an even more assertive version of itself. Beauty is where you find it.
The twelve silkscreen editions produced by Saul Chase between 1976 and 1981 were among the most highly regarded prints of the 70s and 80s. Important galleries including Pace Editions, Barbara Gladstone and Andrew Crispo sold literally hundreds of prints, with some editions sold out within a year. The screenprint “Goya” was a “Print of the Decade” selection in “Art News” in 1980, and major museums including the Met, the Brooklyn, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Hirshorn have acquired prints for their permanent collections.
